The AIDA Lab welcomes applications from students who are passionate about
electronic design automation, machine learning, and semiconductor design for advanced nodes.
We are actively recruiting graduate students for September 2026.
Current Openings (September 2026)
We have openings for graduate students at the following levels.
Ph.D. and Integrated MS&PhD applicants receive the highest priority.
Admitted students in good standing are supported by a research assistantship (RA).

Research Areas
Applicants are expected to have interest in one or more of the following areas.
Prior experience is helpful but not required — motivation and mathematical aptitude matter most.
- Machine learning for electronic design automation (ML/EDA)
- Design technology co-optimization (DTCO) and standard cell synthesis
- Physical design: placement, routing, and parasitic extraction
- Reinforcement learning for circuit and layout optimization
- Advanced semiconductor technology: GAA nanosheets, CFET, sub-3nm processes
- Graph neural networks and neural operators applied to VLSI problems
